A slight nod or handshake works for greetings; address people by title and surname. At the table, the eldest or host leads toasts, and leaving a little food shows you were fed. Gifts are given and received with both hands — avoid clocks, pears, and white flowers. A little effort at courtesy goes a long way with locals.
