Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is one of China's most spectacular natural landscapes. Located in Hunan Province, this UNESCO World Heritage site features over 3,000 sandstone pillars rising from a lush subtropical forest.
The park gained international fame as the inspiration for the floating mountains in James Cameron's Avatar. Visitors can explore the Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, walk across the glass-bottomed Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Bridge, and ride the Bailong Elevator — the tallest outdoor elevator in the world.
Best time to visit: April to October. Allow 3-5 days to fully experience the main scenic areas including Tianzi Mountain, Suoxiyu, and the golden whip stream trail.
